On a bimonthly basis, Antigravity Academy hosts their programming series "First Film Forensics” with LOOK Cinemas Glendale. This partnership, held to the public and their members, invites directors to speak about their process, reflection points, and tips/tricks when looking back at creating their first feature film.
Who is Antigravity Academy?
Antigravity Academy is an Emmy-winning creative studio dedicated to supporting emerging storytellers and producing original, underrepresented stories across film, television, documentary, and short-form media. Beyond production, Antigravity runs an incubator offering programs such as the annual Screenwriters Camp and the Short Film Studio (powered by Dolby Creator Lab), fostering new talent through education, community events, and creative resources.
They debuted with DÌDI (弟弟) by Sean Wang, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, won the Audience Award, and later received two Independent Spirit Awards.
This collaboration with Antigravity Academy x LOOK Cinemas was spearheaded by me to drive more awareness to LOOK’s venue as a space where emerging talent can go and connect with companies like Antigravity. With intriguing programming, joint marketing and promotion, and F&B incentives, we were able to create this as a successful recurring series that benefits both Antigravity’s initiatives and LOOK’s need to drive more sales outside of regular programming.
